A group, Face-to-Face Initiative, has said over 700,000 people have pledged to vote for Mimiko under its ‘I-Pledge-to-Vote-4-Mimiko’ project.
The Coordinator of the group, Mr. Kayode Ajulo, in a statement, said the group targets one million voters and said “we are optimistic that before October 20 we will hit the target.”
Ajulo called for a credible election in the state, warning party supporters against violence.
He said, “In the past two weeks, I have, with my group under the platform of Face-to-Face Initiatives embarked on vote drive. We have been in every nook and cranny of Akokoland.
“We engaged each unit in over 40 wards in the four local governments. We engaged the traditional rulers, community leaders, teachers, market women, students and artisans.
“The verdict is that Akoko will vote for Olusegun Mimiko. Akoko people are grateful to Mimiko for his exemplary leadership qualities, his community development projects and his empowering of Akoko sons and daughters.”
Many groups in the state have in recent times pledged their support for Mimiko’s re-election.
They hinged their backing for the Labour Party candidate on his achievements.
