This was disclosed by the director of the Nigerian army civil-military affairs, Brigadier General Solomon Kumapaye in Abuja on Monday, October 16, during a visit to the director general of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr. Garba Abari, the Sun reports.

Kumapaye said some repentant insurgents had surrendered for deradicalisation programme in the northeast.

He stated the deradicalisation and counter-narrative initiative of the Nigerian army had recorded much success in the northeast.

Kumapaye stated that the army ensured that the rights of civilians are respected in military operations.

He said the army had secured the toll-free Short Code: 193 with which the public can now reach it, using any mobile network.

The director stated that complaints on the conduct of its personnel to emergency concerns will be treated with prompt response by his command.

Meanwhile, the planned deradicalisation of IPOB members is coming on the heels of the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the group.

Kanu is billed to appear before Justice Binta Nyako on Tuesday, October 17, to be re-arraigned on an amended five count charge of treason alongside three other pro-Biafra agitators.

But the whereabouts of the IPOB leader has remained unknown.

Legit.ng notes that the IPOB leader has not been seen in public since the invasion of his Abia country home, by troops of the Nigerian army.
