UPDATED: Army kills 15 Boko Haram terrorists in Gwoza

- The theatre commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Major-General Ibrahim Attahiru has said that the army killed 15 Boko Haram in Gwoza on Tuesday, October 10

- Three of the insurgents had earlier been reported killed while others escaped with gunshot wounds

- He said the terrorists ambushed troops in Gwoza and 15 insurgents fell to soldiers’ bullets during a gunfight

The theatre commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Major-General Ibrahim Attahiru on Wednesday, October 11, said the army killed 15 Boko Haram terrorists in Gwoza on Tuesday, October 10.

NAIJ.com gathered that Attahiru made the revelation during a press briefing at the operation’s headquarters in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

He said the terrorists ambushed troops in Gwoza and the above number of insurgents fell to soldiers’ bullets during a gunfight.

"After defeating the terrorists, the army seized weapons and ammunitions left behind by the fleeing assailants", he said.

Giving report of the army’s efforts against the insurgents, Attahiru confirmed the death of two Boko Haram commanders at the hand of troops on Friday, September 1, 2017 in Bama.

He also said that in the past weeks, the army has killed 19 and arrested at least about 18 others.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had previously reported that Brigadier-general Sani Usman who is the spokesperson of the Nigerian army said they were intercepted in Lingir village of Borno state while trying to herd rustled cattle into the Maiduguri cattle market.
