A report by The Punch indicates that a professor in UNIBEN has been killed by unknown gunmen.
The staff of the University, identified as Professor Paul Otasowie, was said to have been shot dead by the armed men in front of his residence.
According to the report, the incident happened on Ekehuan road in Oredo local government area of the state on Wednesday, October 4.
It is however not clear if the the professor was assassinated or gunned down by suspected armed robbers.
The late Professor Otasowie was a professor in the schools department of electrical and electronics engineering.

In another development, a group known as Behind Bars Intervention, has raised an alarm over the state of the Ogwashi Uku prison in Delta state, which they say has resulted to the death of one inmate, Smart Ohuzu.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the group's leader, Prince Gwamnishu Harrison, who is an ex-awaiting trial prisoner, alleged that the Late Ohuzu died due to negligence by the prison authorities.
Harrison stated that the deceased had just been remanded in the prison by a Delta state magistrate court.
