12 things Nigerians are most proud of - Poll results

The nationalistic fervour of Nigerians following the recent celebration of the October 1, 2017, Independence Day is simmering down.

A poll carried out by NOIPolls seeks to understand what Nigerians are most proud of about their country and what diversity means for many of them.

In line with this and in view of the 57th Nigeria Independence Day celebration, NOIPolls conducted a survey to understand the current stance of social interactions and patriotism among citizens.

The results of the poll is explained by the diagram below:

1. Human and natural resources

25% of the country’s population consider the abundant human and natural resources (25 percent) as a major factor that makes them proud of the country.

2. Cultural diversity

About 17% of the responders mentioned the cultural diversity of Nigeria as the reason they are proud of the country.

3. Peaceful co-existence

13% of Nigerians, say the best factor is the peaceful co-existence among all the tribes.

4. My place of birth

To many Nigerians, their pride in their nation is simply because it is their place of birth.

8. Agricultural strength

9. Good governance

Meanwhile, Pastor Chris Okafor, the general overseer of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry, has suggested that Biafra is a spirit and cannot be killed with guns, arrows, and not even with a nuclear bomb.

Pastor Okafor made this known while felicitating with Nigeria on her Independence Day celebration. He said: ''Our government needs to learn how to resolve issues with dialogue. No amount of time or resources expended towards dialogue is a waste."
