FG demands immediate resignation of NAFDAC DG

- The permanent secretary in the office of the secretary to the government of the federation has directed the DG of NAFDAC, Yetunde Oni, to proceed on immediate retirement

- The directive was in response to a letter written to the SGF by Mrs Oni over the worker’s unrest in the regulatory agency

- NAFDAC workers are demanding the immediate resignation of the DG

The director general of NAFDAC, Yetunde Oni, has been directed by the federal government to proceed on immediate retirement.

The directive was issued by Ugo, a permanent secretary in the office of the secretary to the government of the federation.

According to Premium Times, the directive, dated September 28, was in response to a letter written to the SGF by Mrs Oni over the worker’s unrest in the regulatory agency.

Legit.ng learnt that the directive on Oni’s immediate retirement was connected to the an indefinite strike recently embarked on by the medical and health workers union NAFDAC chapter who demanded the removal of the DG.

The workers demanded for the immediate retirement of Oni, stressing that she should hand over to the immediate senior officer before the appointment of a substantive director-general.

The union also wanted the management to implement agreed welfare package entered in 2013.

The National Public Relations Officer(PRO), medical and health union of Nigeria, NAFDAC chapter, Ejor Michael, made this known on Saturday, September 23, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) in Abuja.

He said they were demanding for a new DG or the appointment of the most senior director to run the affairs of the agency.

According to Mr Michael, the Acting DG, Yetunde Oni, had been on acting capacity since February 2016 and had acted for over one year.
