Buhari worried about disunity in Nigeria - Prof King

- President Buhari is reportedly concerned about the agitation for secession in Nigeria, Professor King claimed

- King said the president is having sleepless night trying to put an end to agitation, tension and violence

- He urged Nigerians to work together to help Buhari build a cohesive, undivided and peaceful country

Professor Richard King, the chairman of the National Book Launch Committee has said President Muhammadu Buhari is really worried about the agitation for secession in Nigeria.

According to a report by The Nation, King claimed that Buhari is having sleepless nights over threats to unity by militancy, ethnic separatism and agitation for restructuring by groups.

Speaking to journalist in Uyo, on Wednesday, September 27, King said the president desired a cohesive, undivided and peaceful country, hence the inauguration of the committee, aimed at promoting unity.

He said: “It is becoming obvious that for the nation to survive the critical moments it is passing through, every well-meaning Nigerian must align with the well-intentioned position of President Buhari to build a cohesive, undivided and peaceful country set along the paths of keeping one, strong and united Nigeria.

“The imperative is what the committee seeks to achieve through our present engagement and responsibility; and I believe my colleagues and I are poised to work in that direction and realise the unity of Nigeria."

Meanwhile, the senior special assistant to the president on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives), Honourable Abdulrahaman Kawu, on Tuesday, September 26, commended members of the House over their resolve to support the existence of Nigeria as one indivisible country.

In a statement sent to journalists, Kawu, himself a former member of the green chamber, also commended the lawmakers for their resolve to work with President Muhammadu Buhari.

He commended the 360 members of the House for unanimously passing a resolution to work for the unity of Nigeria in the face of daunting challenges and threats by certain groups.
