A former deputy Senate president of Nigeria, Ibrahim Mantu, has said he is now a 'born-again politician'.
Mantu said whatever he speaks now is the truth and should be taken by people.
While speaking at the declaration by Tunde Adeniran to contest for the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mantu said, it is important that party members take him for his words.
Mantu further told the audience that he fasted and prayed for 30 days for God to reveal to him the best person to lead the party.
He said, it was after the prayer and fasting session that God told him Adeniran is the right candidate for the position.
He said: “I’m now born again, whatever I say now is the truth. Some people came to the PDP with nothing and left with billions. We need to bring the party to the people now. We need to be sober and apologise for what we have done wrong in the past.
“After fasting and prayer, I fasted for 30 days and night asking God to show me who would lead the party. God showed me Adeniran.
“Let’s now look forward and make sure that we elect a credible chairman. We should make sure that nobody short-changes us at the national convention."
NAIJ.com earlier reported that the governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, has announced his ambition to run for presidency in 2019.

Fayose who is also a member of the PDP is also expected to officially declare his ambition in Abuja on Thursday, September 28.
However, the PDP in a recent warning through its national publicity secretary Dayo Adeyeye called on the governor not to waste his time.
Adeyeye said the PDP had already informed Fayose that the slot for the 2019 presidency has been zoned to the northern region of Nigeria.
