Police nab Boko Haram terrorist in Ondo, hand him over to Army (photos)

- The Nigeria police has arrested number 165 on Boko Haram wanted list

- Idris Babawo was arrested on Sunday, September 24, in Ondo state

- He has since been handed over to Nigerian army for further investigation and possible prosecution

The Nigeria police on Sunday, September 24, arrested a declared wanted Boko Haram terrorist Idris Babawo in Ondo state.

Babawo, 42, also known as Idiko and Nagada, the police said is believed to be number 165 on the Nigerian military's Boko Haram wanted list.

The spokesperson to the Nigerian army, Sani Usman, in a statement said Babawo was handed over to the 32 Brigade, 2 Division, Nigerian army, at about 2pm on Monday, September 25.

Usman said: "Preliminary investigation shows that the terrorist kingpin hailed from Chinade village, Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State. He escaped from the North East due to military onslaught on the terrorists with a view evade arrest and prosecution. But nemesis caught up with him"

Legit.ng earlier reported that the federal government is set to prosecute 1,600 Boko Haram members.

The trial of the terrorists, FG said, will resume on Monday, October 9.

Also, the attorney general of the federation and minister of justice Abubakar Malami said there were 33 cases of terrorism taking place across several courts in Nigeria.
