The United States has declared that it does not consider the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) a terrorist organisation as claimed by Nigeria.
The Punch reports that the status of the agitating organisation was revealed by the spokesperson for the American Embassy in Nigeria, Russell Brooks.
According to Brooks, the US government does not think IPOB is a terrorist group.
The report quoted Brooks as saying further that the US was committed to Nigeria’s unity and would support a peaceful resolution of its crisis.
“The United States Government is strongly committed to Nigeria’s unity. Important political and economic issues affecting the Nigerian people, such as the allocation of resources, are worthwhile topics for respectful debate in a democracy.

“Within the context of unity, we encourage all Nigerians to support a de-escalation of tensions and peaceful resolution of grievances. The Indigenous People of Biafra is not a terrorist organisation under US law,” Brooks said even though he did not confirm if the Nigerian government had requested that IPOB be blacklisted.
NAIJ.com earlier reported how the general overseer of the Divine Hand of God Prophetic Ministries International, Prophet Emmanuel Omale, declared that Nigeria will be great again while those championing its break-up will die within the next few years, has declared.
Omale said Nigeria would not break-up as some have predicted and as some agitators want it to be.
