Dear Baba Buhari, Zaria to Kano highway is an embarrassment to northern leaders - Man cries out

- The attention of President Buhari has been called over the bad state of Zaria to Kano highway

- The highway is said to be a death trap for many road users

- Reactions which trailed the call, however, indicated that the state of Nigeria roads, especially the southern part of the country is terrible

President Muhammadu Buhari's attention has been called to the devastating effects of the bad road between Zaria and Kano.

A freelance journalist, Musa Abdullahi Sufi, made this call on his Facebook on Monday, August 28.

In his post, he said: "Dear Baba Buhari: Zaria to Kano high way is a disaster. Causing the loss of life, properties and destruction of vehicles. The potholes are huge and many. It is really embarrassing to the northern leaders!

Reactions, however, quickly trailed his call as observers narrated their experiences of road networks in Nigeria.

The reactions became more interesting as some commentators made attempts to deploy tribal sentiments in their argument. This was however ignored as majority blamed leaders for the bad roads in the country.

Tunde Alu said: "I plied this road last month on my to see my parent. But honestly this road is far better than most roads in the southern half of Nigeria. That does not also mean that what is to be done should not be done.

"After driving from Kano to Kaduna...when I got to Kawo..I took Mando to head to Ilorin., through Birnin Gwari, Tegina , Mokwa Jebba. Kano - Kaduna road is heaven compared to that. Let me leave us with this question. How did our leaders react to Kaduna - Abuja road when they had to refurbish the Abuja airport?"

Nuru Grafix on his part wrote: "Four weeks ago I stopped and chide the so called Road Safety disturbing motorist about License while those diabolic potholes on the road kills far more than the "lack of License cards". It's sickening"

Here are some of the reactions that trailed the call:
