Tragedy in IDPs as Boko Haram attacks farmers in Borno

- Boko Haram insurgents have reportedly attacked farmers in Borno state

- Several people were killed while unspecified number of them were abducted

- State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has however confirmed the incident

Farmers in the Konduga local government area of Borno state have been reportedly attacked by the Boko Haram insurgents.

Channel Television reports that the incident happened on Monday, August 29, when the farmers were cultivating in the farm for the first time after the recapture of Konduga area of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

The terrorists attacked the farmers with guns killing some and abducting an unspecified number of them, Daily Independent reports.

NIJ.com gathered that the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) had earlier deployed a rescue team to rescue those that escaped with injuries.

Ahmed Satomi, SEMA chairman noted the farmers could not to cultivate their farms for about three years because of the insecurity in some parts of the state.

Satomi said: ''The Konduga incident happened this morning we learned that Boko Haram members attacked IDPs that went to farm.

''They abducted some which I don’t know the number while some managed to escape with gunshot wounds and we sent a rescue team there as soon as we got the information''.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Aisha Bukar, a 25-year-old housewife and mother of five on Monday, August 29, narrated their ordeal in the hands of Boko-Haram insurgents.
