Aliko Dangote set to establish world-class university in Abuja

- President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has revealed plans to set up a university in Abuja

- The proposed university by the billionaire is meant to be technology-driven

- The sum of N200 billion has already been earmarked for the project

Africa’s richest man and President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has set aside N200 billion to establish a world-class university in Abuja.

The proposal has since been delivered to the National Universities Commission, NUC, Premium Times reports.

Legit.ng gathered that former executive secretary of the NUC, Julius Okojie, said the proposed university is meant to be technology-driven

Okojie, who is the chairman of the technical team for the establishment of the university asked for the cooperation and support of the NUC towards the realisation of the goal.

The CEO of the foundation, Zouera Yousouffou, said that Dangote’s desire was to float a unique university of technology with all the necessary infrastructure and best faculty members from across the globe.

Mrs. Yousouffou in her remarks, said the foundation was ready to make the dream a reality with the sum of N200 billion already earmarked for the project.

She said the land was purchased and preliminary measures were in place for the headquarters of the university in Abuja.

According to an earlier report by Legit.ng, Dangote ruled out the possibility of him running for Nigeria’s presidency in 2019 general elections or in the near future.

Dangote declared that he is not cut out for politics, stating that he is more comfortable with business.

There had been speculations that Dangote might take a shot at the presidency giving his net worth and influence.
