2 Ekiti lawmakers in trouble for supporting Fayose's political enemy

- An investigative panel was set up to probe the two lawmakers

- The Assembly said it was yet to question the other lawmaker

Two members of the Ekiti state House of Assembly are reportedly under investigation for allegedly supporting a political enemy of Governor Ayo Fayose.

The Point reports that the two lawmakers, both in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), are in trouble and are being probed by their colleagues for supporting the senator representing Ekiti South district, Mrs Biodun Olujimi ahead of the 2018 election in the state.

The names of the two lawmakers were given as Michael Adedeji, representing Ekiti Southwest constituency 2, and Adeojo Fajana, representing Ekiti east constituency 1.

It was learnt that the House found the lawmakers guilty after setting up a panel to probe them.

The panel further found them guilty of alleged conversion of some public utilities like roads and boreholes into personal use.

At a press conference in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, August 17, the House reportedly described claims by Olujimi that 11 members of the Assembly were loyal to her.

The chairman of the House committee on information, Hon Samuel Omotoso, said the erring lawmaker Adedeji had been pardoned since he had written an apology letter to the speaker, Kola Oluwawole.

“After investigation, it was discovered that truly, these honourable members have unholy alliances with Senator Olujimi.

"The alliance is not even the issue, but what it has brought to the people and the Assembly as an institution.

“We found out that the alliance with the senator had made these lawmakers to consistently exhibit wrong signs and acted disrespectfully to the office of the speaker, thus bringing his (speaker’s) office and integrity of the house to disrepute.

“We have seen in the social media how Senator Olujimi claimed that she was in control of this house; this is not so.

“The PDP organogram in Ekiti is very clear. Governor Fayose is our leader; no other leader, anywhere,” he said.

“We are not bothered about Senator Olujimi because these actions are not personal but directed at maintaining decent and honourable conducts among our members,” he added.

Legit.ng earlier reported that some photographs just released by Lere Olayinka, the spokesperson to Governor Ayodele Fayose, shows that the latter had been engaging the grassroots for more than 13 years.

Fayose is currently observing a second term in office as the governor of Ekiti state after he was initially impeached years ago.
