Robbers Attack Residence of Bauchi SIEC Chair

Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers have attacked the residence of the Bauchi State Chairman of Independent Electoral Commission, Alhaji Abdulmumini Mohammed Kundak and took away two vehicles, computers and other properties.

Briefing newsmen at Bauchi police command yesterday, Kundak said the State Security Service had recovered the stolen vehicles in Kano and handed them over to Bauchi police command yesterday.

“They asked me to give them money and dollars because they are aware the I came back from America recently I told them I don’t have any I am a poor public servant and they collected money not up to N100,000; they took away three laptop computers, handsets, my wives’ jewelleries and passports including that of my age mother,” he said.

He said the SSS arrested three of the suspects, among them a person he had helped to get a political appointment with Bauchi government.

Contacted, Bauchi police commissioner Muhammed Ladan told newsmen that he would “call you at the appropriate time.”
