BREAKING: Acting president Osinbajo departs Nigeria for Rwanda

- Professor Yemi Osinbajo has departed Nigeria for the inauguration of President Paul Kagame of Rwanda

- He was accompanied by the minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama

- He is expected to return to the country later in the day

Acting president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has left Nigeria for Rwanda to attend the inauguration of President Paul Kagame.

In a statement released by Laolu Akande who is the senior special assistant to Osinbajo on media and publicity, he said the acting president left the country on Friday, August 18 for Kigali.

Also accompanying the acting president was the minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama.

"Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, is attending the presidential inauguration of President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, taking place today in Kigali, the country's capital.

"The inauguration ceremony which is expected to be witnessed by several African Heads of State and Government, follows President Kagame's victory at the August 4 Rwandan presidential election.

"Prof. Osinbajo who is accompanied by the Foreign Affairs Minister Geoffrey Onyeama.

"He is expected back in Abuja later today."

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari met with the chairman of the National Assembly, Bukola Saraki, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara in London.

Saraki, who is the president of the Senate, was pictured with Buhari and Dogara as they laughed while discussing.
