- Shehu Garba, who spoke on television, asked the protesters to go look for what to do to keep themselves busy
- Shehu argued that President Muhammadu Buhari properly handed over to Prof Yemi Osinbajo
- He also confirmed that the government was running well despite Buhari's absence
Those protesting against Muhammadu Buhari are just jobless, Shehu Garba, a spokesperson to the president, has said.
Shehu made the statement on Channels Television shortly before the protest against Buhari was suspended.
The group suspended the protest after it violently clashed with supporters of the president in Abuja on Tuesday, August 12.
Shehu said the protesters should go look for jobs as he spoke about the continued stay of President Buhari in London for medical reasons.
“This is a democracy, and we respect the citizens’ rights to demonstrate. All of this is coming from a band of less than two dozen persons who have their antecedents that are known to us, and they will be dictating to the country what to do?
“Majority of Nigerians are on the same page, they have given the president enough trust, and I can assure you what is ahead is far better.
“The President did the right thing by following strictly the requirements of the constitution and handed over power to the vice-president.
“The government is running very well; we don’t have any difficulties. Let’s focus on the big issues, dealing with the mountains of corruption and the insecurity and the economy which is coming back now.

“Please don’t upset the apple cart. They should go and find work if they don’t have anything to do,” he said.
NAIJ.com reported earlier that Garba Shehu also revealed how his boss recently shunned a top official of the government for undermining the authority of Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.
Shehu said this on Channels Television during a programme on Tuesday, August 15, just days after returning from London where he visited Buhari with his colleagues.
