Boko Haram insurgents must be swiftly brought to justice - UN

- António Guterres, United Nations (UN) secretary-general has condemned the recent Boko Haram attacks in Borno state

- Guterres said those responsible for the repeated heinous acts in Nigeria and neighbouring countries should be swiftly brought to justice

- He said UN solidarity and support to the government of Nigeria in its fight against terrorism and violent extremism

António Guterres, United Nations (UN) secretary-general has reacted to recent Boko Haram attacks in Borno state, adding that the perpetrators should be ''swiftly'' arrested and prosecuted.

It was learnt that a female bomber blow herself up at a market in Konduga, a village near Maiduguri, killing 27 persons.

Also two bombers was said to have blown themselves up at the gates of an internally displaced person (IDP) camp, injuring many.

In a statement issued by Stéphane Dujarric, Guterres’s spokesman, the secretary-general called for the prosecution of those responsible for the ''senseless'' attacks, The Cable reports.

According to him, ''Those responsible for these repeated heinous acts in Nigeria and neighbouring countries to be swiftly brought to justice.

“the United Nations solidarity and support to the government of Nigeria in its fight against terrorism and violent extremism''.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that Boko Haram terrorists reportedly launched a deadly attack in Borno state killing 27 people with 83 others wounded.
