- Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has debunked rumours which claimed that he vowed to kill members of All Progressive Congress (APC)

- Wike said the rumour is a futile attempt at misinformation and irresponsible journalism

- He however alleged that the report was sponsored by APC

Governor Nyesom Wike through his special assistant on electronic media has reacted to a video that he allegedly threaten to unleash violence on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state.

Reports have it that Nwakaudu said the footage which was photoshopped was a product of those sponsoring ''media campaign'' against Wike.

Legit.ng gathered that the reports was said to have aimed at misleading unsuspecting members of the public.

The statement read: ''Our attention has been drawn to a negative online media campaign being waged against the Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike by elements within the Rivers APC, for which they have employed some online and traditional media managers.

''I didn’t come here with this machete, it was when I came here that they gave it to me and the implication of using this tool is to clear all the unwanted.

''All those that know don’t come closer to me because my people have given me the instrument to go to war and with this you don’t want me to catch you.

''This time, the APC has sponsored the cut-editing of a video-footage during the commissioning of Ozuoba-Rumuoparaeli-Choba road in Obio/Akpor local government area on Tuesday, January 10, 2017.

''This manipulated footage by the APC has been forwarded to APC propaganda merchants for circulation for a handsome fee.

''Already, Vanguard Newspaper has uploaded this manipulated video, online. Members of the public are enjoined to disregard the contrived video. This is a futile attempt at misinformation and irresponsible journalism. An attempt to help the impotent Rivers APC through the back door.

''The machete was significant as it was handed over to the governor for the protection of the state from electoral fraudsters, criminals and treacherous elements who are conspiring to steal the mandate of the people''.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that a total of 1,886 schools were shut down in the state. Wike explained that the action was because they did not have government approval.

He stated this when the management of Jesuit Memorial College, Mbodo-Aluu, visited him in Port Harcourt.
