I didn’t decamp to PDP - Kwankwaso declares

- Rabiu Kwankwaso, former governor of Kano state (APC, Kano Central) has spoken up on leaving his party for another

- Kwankwaso however said that he did not dump his party for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

- Kwankwaso declared that he played a key role in the formation of APC and he is still one of the strong pillars of the party

Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, former Governor of Kano State, (APC, Kano Central), has debunked rumour that he dumped his party for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Reports had it on Tuesday, August 15, that Kwankwaso and 10 members of the House of Representatives from Kano state dumped APC for PDP.

According to Daily Trust, Kwankwaso however denied the reports through Nafiu Dankura, personal assistant.

Dankura said: ''I want to categorically dispel the rumour and fake news that is circulating in some online media and radio stations that distinguished Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso has defected to the PDP.

''This is not true as we all know he played a key role in the formation of the APC and he is still one of the strong pillars of the party''.

He said Kwankwaso, who prided on the senate committee on national planning, had no intention of dumping the APC.

He said. ''I think we should think positive; we are taking the negative side now. It is just like me asking you: “If your employers do this or that, would you leave your place of work?” We should think positive; it depends on how you put it.

''We are happy now in APC, we are comfortable with our leaders in Abuja and they have not done anything wrong''.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that there was palpable anxiety in the ruling APC following the rumoured defection of Kwankwaso to PDP.

It was learnt that the PDP had been speaking with him to return to its fold and were anxiously waiting for his next move.
