A 5-man federal government delegation has been dispatched to Anambra state over the massacre at St. Philips Catholic Church, Ozubulu, by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, Punch reports.
The delegation is expected to visit and condole with the state government and the people of the state, over the gruesome attack which occurred on Sunday, August 6.
The development was made public in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja by Laolu Akande, the Senior Special Assistant to the Acting President on Media and Publicity.
Akande revealed that the delegation is made up of the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige; Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama; Minister of State for Environment, Ibrahim Jibril; and the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Anthony Anwuka.
Akande quoted the Acting President as condemning the killings, as he also disclosed that the ministers are expected to present a letter from Osinbajo to Willie Obiano, the Anambra state Governor, during the visit.
Quoting from Osinbajo’s letter to Obiano, Akande stated: “Such barbaric act constitutes an affront to our common humanity and challenges, but will not overwhelm our collective resolve to rid our communities of all forms of violent crimes and criminality.”
Osinbajo stressed that the Muhammadu Buhari administration was undaunted, and would commit all necessary resources towards ensuring safety of lives and property all over the country.
He restated his call for the apprehension of the perpetuators of the crime even as he assured all Anambrarians and Nigerians at large, of adequate security and protection.
The Acting President pledged to remain engaged with the state Governor and the relevant security agencies, to achieve this goal.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously that the Governor of Anambra state Willie Obiano, insisted that the deadly killing that took place in a church in the Ozubulu area of the state was committed by two business partners from the same town.
This is contrary to the position taken by the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, who alleged that the crime was committed by herdsmen.
