Arrest Nnamdi Kanu now or we will shut down Nigeria - Arewa youth threatens FG

- Arewa Youth Assembly (AYA) has asked the Federal Government to re-arrest the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu

- The group also threatened that it would shut down the country if Kanu is not rearrested

- It said that it came out after ten days ultimatum it gave to the government in its letters earlier addressed to the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo

Arewa Youth Assembly (AYA), on Wednesday August 9, threatened to paralyze governments’ activities, especially in 19 Northern states, if the Federal Government failed to arrest the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu over what it termed ‘lawlessness and youth agitations’ in various parts of the country.

Nigerian Tribune reports that the assembly who staged a peaceful protest in Abuja further threatened that if the Federal Government failed to get Kanu apprehended it would mobilize over one thousand youths to stop governments’ activities in Northern states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Legit.ng gathered that the Speaker of the AYA, Muhammed Salihu who disclosed this during the protest said the group came out after ten days ultimatum given to the government in its letters earlier addressed to the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, alongside other Security Chiefs on why the IPOB leader must be arrested.

The protesters carried various placards which read, “Though our tough might differ, but in unity and brotherhood we stand; Individuals’ blood does not worth anything of Kanu” and many others. The protest began from Unity Fountain, Maitama down to the entrance of Aso Villa, Abuja.

Speaking further, Salihu said: “Basically we are here for the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu because he is causing lawlessness and youth agitations in various part of the country. Any youth under any group now is hiding under the Kanu agitation to perpetrate evils.”

Also speaking, the Clerk of the assembly, Desmond Minakaro said: “the only way the October 1st can be averted is when the IPOB leader is not allowed to continue creating a State within a State which is against the constitution of our country.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the lawmaker representing Epe constituency II in the Lagos state House of Assembly, Segun Olulade, has said the plans by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to hold a protest and shutdown Lagos will be resisted by the state government.
