Court orders Diezani to forfeit N7.6billion hidden in bank

- A Lagos Federal High Court has ordered Diezani Alison-Madueke to forfeit the sum of N7billion

- The money is reportedly being kept at Sterling bank Plc

- It is believed that the money was part of the $153,310,000 she allegedly siphoned from NNPC in 2014

The Lagos state Federal High Court has ordered the interim forfeiture of N7,646,700,000 kept in Sterling bank by former minister of petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The money, according to the officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was part of the sum of $153,310,000 she allegedly stole from the coffers of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

EFCC alleged that the agency has already seized the sum of 23.4bn, $5m and another N9.08bn out of the $153.3m from the ex-minister.

The judge, Chuka obiozor, adjourned the case till August 28, 2017 for Sterling Bank and any other party involved to appear before the court to state why the funds should not be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government.

Meanwhile, a $37.5m Banana Island mansion linked to Alison-Madueke, Nigeria’s former minister of petroleum resources, is to be permanently forfeited to the federal government, on the orders of the Federal High Court in Lagos.

In the same vein, the court also ordered that sums of $2,740,197.96 and N84,537,840.70 realized as rents on the property should be forfeited to the government.
