Ex-governor of Anambra state, Chukwuemeka Ezeife, has called on Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to restructure the nation fast to avoid the country breaking up.
NAIJ.com learnt that Ezeife, who spoke on Friday, August 4, at the 20th Professor Wole Soyinka annual lecture, said if Nigeria disintegrate, the northern region will suffer most of the loss.
Ezeife warned that Nigeria is already on the brink of extinction and only restructuring can save it.
According to Daily Post, Ezeife said Nigeria needs to go back to how it was originally plan with six zones federating units, while allowing states in the zones to develop their own constitution.
He said: “Every honest Nigerian knows we are at the brink of extinction. Nigeria will cease to exist if we do not restructure. It is a joke for people to think we should not restructure.
“Northerners will lose most from the disintegration of Nigeria. We need to go back to the agreed Nigeria. Make the six zones federating units. Allow states in the zones to develop their own constitution.
“Osibanjo should make sure the issue of restructuring is complete by the middle of 2018. Make sure the zones control their security.”

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) committee on restructuring of Nigeria met on August 4, to continue on how achieve the task before it.
NAIJ.com gathered that the committee held its first meeting on Thursday, July 20 and agreed to focus its work in the following areas.
