Police dismiss speaker's security aide for shooting 2 FRSC officials

- The Nigeria Police Force said it tried the officer, a corporal, and found him guilty of the allegation

- Police commissioner in Abia state, Leye Oyebade, confirmed the development

- The police did not state if the officer will be facing further prosecution

The police corporal, Iroh Orji, who reportedly shot two officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) at Aba, Abia state recently, has been sacked.

The revelation was made by the commissioner of police in Abia state, Leye Oyebade.

Oyebade, who spoke with journalists on the activities of the command, said Orji was tried and found guilty of the offence and was dismissed from the police.

“The command and the police hierarchy condemned the action of the corporal. Police do not advise its members to use their arms,” he said.

The FRSC also confirmed the development.

Legit.ng had reported earlier how the Orji was the orderly to Speaker Chikwendu Kalu of Abia state and he was accused of shooting at the two FRSC officials at their duty post on July 15.

“Any armed police officer is expected to protect people not to shoot at them,” the police commissioner said.
