We support Buhari and Rochas Okorocha - Imo youths react to Nnamdi Kanu's visit

- IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, was on Imo state on Friday, July 28

- Kanu, during his visit said election will not hold in South- East until a referendum is granted

- Youths of Imo state under different groups disagreed with Kanu and pledged their allegiance to the government

Following Nnamdi Kanu's visit to Imo state on Friday, July 28, some youths of the state have thrown their support behind the state and federal government.

The youths said they are in support of the state governor, Rochas Okorocha and President Muhammadu Buhari and would not support the agitation for secession.

Coordinators of the various youth bodies, Azunnaya Andrew, Emeka Igwe, GTC Samuel and Jeff Nwoha, who spoke at a press conference, said they condemned the pro-Biafra rally in the state.

Andrew said: “One Nigeria Group stands for oneness of Nigeria. We totally condemn the pro-Biafra rally, which is going on in Owerri now, and which is being conducted by one Nnamdi Kanu.

“Even in the midst of marginalisation, we are supporting the governments of Muhammadu Buhari and Rochas Okorocha. We will not allow them to hold such rally in Imo State again.”

Emeka Igwe who is the leader of the Nigeria Youth Unity Group said: “We are for the unity of Nigeria despite the injustices. We are not ready for war. The event of the Nigeria civil war is still fresh in our minds. These pro-Biafra youths are very inexperienced.”

Samuel, who spoke on behalf of Youth Assembly of Nigeria, said: “These pro-Biafra youths need orientation. What we support is restructuring, not secession. IPOB lacks orientation. Nigeria’s unity is non-negotiable. No war, no separation.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng recently report that IPOB said the total rejection of restructuring of the country by the members of the Senate is an indication that Nigeria can never be united.

The group in the statement obtained by Legit.ng on Thursday, July 27, stated that the rejection of restructuring by the Senate had vindicated its leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB.

Spokesperson for the group, Emma Powerful, stated that IPOB remains the only legitimate voice that understands the plight of the masses.
