The six students of Igbonla Model College in Epe who were abducted have been released, Vanguard reports.

The students have been in the custody of their abductors for two months.

They were abducted on Sunday, May 28 in their school premises who invaded the school.

Efforts have been made to rescue the students for the past three months, prompting their parents to make several media appearances.

Saharareporters learned that due to the personal intervention of Governor Akeredolu, the six have been rescued alive and are now in Ondo state territory.

The six students are:

1. Agbaosi Judah

2.Jonah Peter

3.Philips Pelumi

4. Adebanjo George

5. Yusuf Faruq

6. Ramon Isiaka

Their release comes days after Acting President Yemi Osinbajo promised Nigerians that they will be released in no time.

Meanwhile, Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode appealed to Lagosians to give his administration more time to gather enough intelligence in order to deal effectively deal with the kidnapping problem within the state.

He stated that he was just being very tactical about the issue and did not want to run the state’s security issues on the pages of newspapers.

Governor Ambode made the comment when he received on courtesy visit, members of the Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs led by the Oba of Lagos Oba Rilwan Akiolu at the Lagos House in Ikeja.
