Delta Flood: Sapele resident cries out to Okowa for help

- The Sapele area of Delta state has witnessed heavy flooding since the downpour of rain began on Saturday, July 22

- An affected resident is calling on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to do something about the disastrous situation

- Homes and properties have been reportedly destroyed since the torrential downpour began, with several residents rendered homeless

A resident of Sapele, Delta state, Mathew Aghomise, has sent out an urgent appeal to the state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, to do something about the flood which has ravaged the area.

Sapele and other areas of Delta state including the capital Asaba, have been flooded as a result of the heavy downpour which began on Saturday, July 22.

In an exclusive mail sent in to Legit.ng, Aghomise stated: "Sapele is flooded right now. We appeal to His Excellency Senator Dr. Okowa to help us.

"He should please direct the Hon. Commissioner of Environment to mobilize Schlumbeger to clear all blocked drainage channels."

The heavy downpour has reportedly led to the destruction of homes and properties, rendering several residents homeless.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that no fewer than 200 residents were rendered homeless and properties estimated at over N120 million destroyed, as a flood submerged most of Gbekebor community in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta state.

The residents made an appeal to the government and relevant authorities, to come to their rescue by immediately filling and reclaiming the eroded land.
