Suspected wives and children of Boko Haram members nabbed

- The Nigerian Army said the women and children were intercepted while fleeing from a Boko Haram base in Yobe

Troops of the 120 Task Force Battalion of the 27 Task Force Brigade have arrested a total of 30 women suspected to have ties with the Boko Haram terrorists.

The army said those intercepted include eight women and 11 children.

A statement by Sani Usman, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Army, the women and children were caught fleeing a Boko Haram base in Goniri, Gujba local government area of Yobe state.

The statement obtained by Legit.ng stated further that the troops also intercepted at least seven women and children escaping from Boko Haram terrorists at Kamuya, Yobe state.

“They claimed that they escaped from Boko Haram terrorists’ hideout at Goropcha village, Damboa local government area of Borno state.

“Both sets of escapees are currently being screened and profiled by the brigade,” the statement said.

Legit.ng had reported that two bombers belonging to the Boko Haram were arrested by the Nigerian army troops while they were attempting to detonate explosives attached to their bodies.

It was gathered that the male bomber was intercepted at Dala village while the female was arrested at Cimari and No Man's Land.
