LASIEC to announce Lagos council poll results at collation centres

The chairman, Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Justice Ayotunde Phillips, has said that results of elections into Chairmanship and Councillorship posts in the 57 local governments and local council development areas of Lagos state will be announced at the collation centres and ward collation centres respectively.
Legit.ng gathered that Justice Phillips made this known while speaking with some stakeholders on the preparations of the Commission for the elections.

She stressed that the commission would, however, monitor developments at the various collation centres and other locations in the state through reports sent to the Election Support Centre at the headquarters by field officers of the Commission.
Meanwhile, the Commission has continued the deployment of non-sensitive materials to the electoral officers in the 57 local governments/local council development areas of the state in preparation for the elections.
With the early deployment of the materials, the Commission intends to eliminate any delay that could militate against the smooth conduct of the elections on Saturday.
The electoral officers are expected to distribute the materials to supervisory presiding officers in their LGs/LCDAs who will, in turn, distribute the materials to the presiding officers for the conduct of the elections.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Lagos state government announced the restriction of vehicular movement on Saturday July 22, in view of the local government elections holding the state.
The elections will hold across the 20 LGs and 37 LCDAs across the state.

Mr Steve Ayorinde, the state’s commissioner for information and strategy, in a statement on Sunday said that the restriction of movement would be enforced between 8a.m and 2pm.
