Drama as Sani protests Gov El-Rufai's invitation to EFCC event

- Senator Shehu Sani has walked out of an EFCC event in Kaduna

- The senator walked out in protest of the attendance of Governor Nasir El-Rufai

- The event was the official launching of the new office of Kaduna zonal office of the EFCC

Shehu Sani, the senator representing Kaduna Central, has today July 6 walked out of an event organised by the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC).

Sani walked out of the event in Kaduna to protest the attendance of Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

The event was the official launching of the new office of Kaduna zonal office of the EFCC at Wurno Road, Kaduna.

Governor El Rufai and Senator Shehu Sani were among top dignitaries invited by the anti-graft agency for the event.

Senator who left the venue told Premium Times that he left the event in protest of the invitation of El Rufai.

He said: “I honoured the invitation to launch the zonal office of the EFCC and to participate in a stakeholders forum.

“I don’t think someone invited in this event fits in to the philosophy and principles of the EFCC.

“I don’t know how the EFCC can squarely investigate corruption cases in Kaduna with some of this characters cutting the tape of their new abode.”

Efforts by people at the gate to convince the Senator to return to the event were unsuccessful.

Other dignitaries who attended the event are the Senator representing Kaduna North, Sulaiman Hunkuyi, immediate past governor of the state, Ramalan Yero, the EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu, and the representative of Shehu Idris, the Emir of Zazzau, among others.

NAIJ.com had reported that the Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani had revealed how the relationship between him and Governor Nasir el-Rufai broken down irretrievably.

Sani blamed the governor for the breakdown which he says is as a result of ideological differences.

Sani explained that it was inhuman for the governor to remove beggars and hawkers from the streets of Kaduna without making alternative arrangements for them.
