- The bickering between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) seems like a never-ending saga
- The APC in Abia state has raised an alarm saying the PDP plans to destabilise its party
- The PDP wasted no time in firing back and denied the claims
An APC chieftain in Abia state, Chief Nduka Anyanwu, has raised an alarm accusing the PDP in the state of desperation and sinister plots.
Anyanwu, a former member of the APC'National Executive Committee, made this known when he hosted a meeting of members of Abia Central senatorial district of the party in his Ossa Ibeku home in Umuahia North local government area of the state.
According to Anyanwu, the plot is aimed at “weakening the growing membership of the party as credible alternative to the ruling party in the state ahead of the 2019 general election which we (the APC) are sure of victory.”

He also blamed some members of the APC in the state, whom he described as saboteurs and agents of the PDP, for the disharmony in its leadership.
He appealed to the party members to watch their ranks, adding that, “we need to fish out the blacklegs among us before they pollute others and cause irreparable damage to the party as we prepare for the election or we will have ourselves to blame latter.”
According to Daily Times, Anyanwu used the forum to correct the impression that President Buhari had not been fair to the South-east zone in his appointments, urging such critics to check their records before making such claims.
Reacting on behalf of the PDP, its publicity secretary in Abia state, Sir Don Ubani said that if the APC have any problem in the state, it is self-inflicted, adding that it may be because of the party’s abysmal performance at the federal level.
Meanwhile, former ministers under the umbrella of PDP met in Abuja on Monday, July 3, to decide who will represent them in the 2019 presidential election.
The ministers expressed confidence that the PDP will defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 and canvassed that the party's candidate should be from the ex-ministers forum.
