Senator Dino Melaye has described the moves to recall him from the Senate as a fake process that is bound to fail.
Melaye, who represents Kogi west district at the Senate made the statement on Tuesday, July 4, in reaction to reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had released the timetable for the commencement of the recall of his recall.
NAIJ.com recalls that INEC on Monday, July 3 said it would verify the constituents’ signatures on August 19 and publish the results immediately.
But Senator Melaye has in a series of tweets told his constituents not to be troubled over the process.
The senator urged his supporters to maintain peace, noting that the recall process will fail.
He also vowed to continue to speak the truth or represent the voice of the voiceless in Kogi state.

Meanwhile, Okun indigenous groups and township associations in Lagos on Wednesday, June 28 said they are in support of the electoral processes to recall Senator Dino Melaye. Melaye represents Kogi West Senatorial District, an ancestral domain of the Okun people.
The group in a statement signed by Rotimi Ajibulu and Adebukola Ebenezer said Okun residents in Lagos are very happy with the process, insisting that Senator Melaye had been a bad ambassador of the Okun people.
Ajibulu is a former executive member of the Federation of Okun Students, while Adebukola is the President of Okun Progressive Association in Lagos state.
The duo said they had rallied Okun residents in Lagos to campaign and work for Dino emergence as a senator in 2015 but were left disappointed in the manner Dino had portrayed the Okun nation and its humble people.
