Police set to arraign Evans, await IG's directive

- The police said they are in action over the arraignment of the notorious kidnapper a.ka. Evans at the Lagos state police command Headquarters, Ikeja, where he is being detained

- Lagos state police command dismissed rumors that some media have been conducting interviews with Evans since he was paraded on June 11.

- The state command said it was not aware of any other media having interview with the suspected kidnapper

Barely two weeks after notorious kidnap kingpin, Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, aka Evans, was arrested in Lagos state, the police have revealed their plan on Evans after investigation.

Olarinde Famous-Cole, the spokesperson for the state police command, on Monday, June 25, said that Evans would be arraigned after the police have completed their investigations.

However, Punch reports that the security agency said it is still taking an inventory of Evans' criminal activities.

Legit.ng gathered Famous-Cole did not state the arraignment date.

The spokesperson for the state police command said: “After investigations, the Inspector-General of Police will give directive on what to do.

“There are some other pieces of information about the suspect that must be known to us about things that happened years ago.

‘’We have to update all of them in our record. You can call the FPRO for other necessary information.”

Famous-Cole also said the command had not presented Evans to the media for interview since the June 11 parade, adding that the police were not aware of other supposed interviews that the claimed to have had with him.

''Journalists interviewed him during the parade led by the FPRO. Information being put out now probably came from the parade on that day. I am not aware of any other parade,’’ he said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the notorious kidnapper a.ka. Evans at the Lagos state police command Headquarters, Ikeja, where he is being detained made other shocking revelations. Evan said he regretted not leaving the country with his family, saying he failed to follow his instincts.

He said he had first moved his family out of Magodo before relocating to an hotel in Ikeja. He also said that his failure to follow his instincts and leave the country immediately, having known that his girlfriends, sister and gang members had been arrested made him find himself in the current situation.
