Ramadan Day 25: 5 lifestyles you must maintain after Ramadan

In the name of Allah, The Most Beneficent, The Most Merciful

Praise be to Almighty Allah who has given us the grace and strength to fats during this glorious Ramadan month as it inches closer to the end. There was feeling of expectation as the month of Ramadan came and when it finally did, it was measured in weeks and now it’s already less than a week till it ends.

Muslims all over the world have had to alter their lifestyles and activities in order to conform to the demand of Ramadan. Beyond abstaining from eating and drinking alone, Muslims have been more cautious in what they say and do in other not to fall into sin.

While this is a good thing, it is important to realise that some of the lifestyles adopted during Ramadan should not disappear when the month ends as they are how we should be recognised as true Muslims.

Here are five things Muslims must strive to continue with even after Ramadan.

Fasting

While the month of Ramadan is specifically meat for fasting, the practice is a beneficial one that should be maintained. Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) fasted on Mondays and Thursdays and it is Sunnah to do so to. This activity helps to maintain ones relationship with Allah and also provides an opportunity to get reward from Allah.

Eating healthy

During Ramadan, many Muslims discard consumption of junk or unhealthy food and embrace a better eating habit. This eating habit is not only good for Ramadan hut should also be copied during any other month. A balanced diet with little or no junk meal as practiced during Ramadan should also be adopted for better living.

Salat

During Ramadan, more and more Muslims take their Salat serious and go to mosques to join in group prayers. Praying Salat is one of the pillars of faith and praying in group in the mosque is also more beneficial. Not only should this be done during Ramadan but should also be maintained after Ramadan.

Alms-giving

Another practice that is prevalent during Ramadan is the giving of alms to the needy. This is also one of the pillars of Islam that should be maintained when Ramadan ends. One of the lessons Muslims learn during fasting is the feeling of huger that needy people go through. This encourages providing help to needy people and this should not be discontinued even when Ramadan is over.

Getting closer to Allah

Ramadan comes with a unique feeling that encourages Muslims to want to maintain a better relationship with Allah. This is a good thing that increases Allah’s shower of blessing on us. It is however not exclusive to Ramadan alone and therefore should be a constant way of life.

May Allah make it easier for us and give us the reward in the life and in the hereafter.
