I'm the next president - Governor Fayose boasts

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has boasted that he would become the next president of Nigeria by taking over the reins of power from President Muhammadu Buhari.

Fayose made the statement on Friday, June 16, when he spoke at a meeting with political office holders at the Government’s House, Ado Ekiti, the Vanguard reports.

He said he wants to be the next president of Nigeria, promising that his administration won’t be like that of the current government that has brought nothing to Nigerians.

I have penchant for taking powers; that one in Buhari’s hand. I will take it. I’m going straight to that villa. I’m the next president.

“I want to be the next president of Nigeria. My own won’t be this change that has brought nothing, we are going to represent the people well and tell them the truth," he said.

The governor stated that he is loved by Ekiti people because of the many developmental projects that he has executed in the state, according to the Punch.

He predicted that former governors Segun Oni and Kayode Fayemi would fail if they contest the 2018 governorship election in the state.

He said: “Just because Ayo Fayose has won a second term to become governor of Ekiti, some people also think they can come back now, but I want to tell them that it is not possible.

"I am the man wholeheartedly loved by Ekiti people because of the many developmental projects that have brought great infrastructural and developmental advancement to Ekiti.

“If you go around Ekiti, you will see my handiwork dotting every nook and cranny of the state. This is why I am the man who every Ekiti people will follow in 2018.”

Meanwhile, the immediate past first lady, Patience‎ Jonathan, has been shortlisted among other prominent Igbo politicians to run for president in 2019 by a coalition of Igbo groups.

The Igbo groups, who shortlisted the personalities include; the World Igbo Youth Congress (WIYC) the Igbo Students’ Association (ISA) and the South-East Women Professionals (SWP).

The groups said they will align with the position of the Ohanaeze Youth Council Worldwide to begin an aggressive campaign for Igbo presidency, adding that funds will be mobilized across the world for their campaign.

They also declared that the Igbo leaders who recently had a meeting with acting president, Yemi Osinbajo do not represent Ndigbo in any form but their personal interests.
