Viral video shows Nigerian security officials celebrating arrest of Nigeria's richest kidnapper

- A very rich and notorious kidnapper named Evans, has been arrested in Lagos

- The kidnap kingpin was nabbed inside his mansion in Magodo

- The arrest has stirred wild jubilation amongst security operatives

Following the crucial arrest of Nigeria’s billionaire kidnapper, Evans, operatives of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) have had a wild celebration.

The kidnap kingpin, it was gathered, targets wealthy businessmen and collects no less than N50m before releasing them.

Evans was arrested in his Magodo Estate mansion around 1pm on Saturday by the IRT, headed by an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari.

Legit.ng had earlier reported that the suspect, who is from Anambra, is reportedly believed to have made several billions of naira leading and coordinating others in his team.

It was learnt that he was arrested after a gun duel with the police.

Kyari said: “IRT headquarters in Abuja is celebrating the arrest of the most wanted brilliant and notorious high-profile kidnapper in Nigeria.

“He has collected several billions of Naira as ransom in the last seven years as the kingpin of kidnappers.

“He was arrested at about 1:00pm on Saturday in his residence in Magodo Estate, Lagos.”

Evans is said to own another home in Igando area of Lagos state, which he converted to the base and hideout of kidnappers working for him and victims they abduct.

After news of the arrest broke, officers of the IRT, which is directly under the office of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, got jubilant in one of their offices’ premises.

In a video online, they are seen in victorious mood, dancing and singing along to Tekno’s song.

Kyari commended the team of policemen who carried out the operation adding that the suspect would be paraded before journalists on Sunday, June 11.
