BREAKING: Osinbajo will not sign budget on Thursday - Presidential aide

Senator Ita Enang who is the special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly has said that no date has been set for the signing of the 2017 budget.

The Punch reports that the presidential aide said consultation was still going on concerning the budget.

He said: “Further to several enquiries regarding action on the 2017 Appropriation Bill by the Executive, be please informed that Assent to same is not yet scheduled as consultations and engagements are ongoing.”

There has been controversy concerning who will sign the budget as President Muhammadu Buhari was on medical leave in London.

Laolu Akande who is the senior special assistant to Professor Yemi Osinbajo had insisted his boss would sign the budget when the time comes.

“Just so we are clear: when the time comes, everything is set, & he is satisfied, Ag. President Yemi Osinbajo will assent to the 2017 Budget.”

Legit.ng had earlier reported that Osinbajo invited Senate president, Bukola Saraki and speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, to the Aso Rock for the signing of the 2017 budget.

The Cable, citing a National Assembly source, stated that Enang officially informed the leadership of the national assembly that Osinbajo will sign the budget on Thursday, June 1.
