Magu vows to wipe out corruption in 12 months

The acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has vowed to end corruption in Nigeria in the next 12 months.
Magu made the promise on Thursday, May 25 during the official opening of the Ibadan zonal office and stakeholders engagement session, held in Iyagaku, Ibadan, The Punch reports.

The EFCC boss said the fight against corruption had just began, noting that in 12 months corrupt persons will not be seen.
“The fight has just started and we will do it to the last. We will get them out, just give me 12 months, you will not see them again,” Magu said.
Some dignitaries who attended the event included the the Oyo state governor, Abiola Ajimobi, Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, who was represented by one of the traditional rulers from Osun State, and other notable persons.
Legit.ng had earlier reported that Magu had on Tuesday, May 23, vowed to fight corruption with the last drop of his blood.
Addressing a massive anti-corruption rally in Abuja, Magu reaffirmed the determination of the commission to “trace and recover all ill-gotten wealth and bring the perpetrators to book.’’
The rally was part of a nationwide anti-corruption walk staged by the EFCC to spur the masses into joining the anti-graft war.
The EFCC boss has also called on residents in the south south region to report cases of corruption and money laundering.
The chairman of the EFCC spoke through the head of Southsouth, Ishaku Salihu, during this year’s annual national anti-corruption walk in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
Magu urged the people to take advantage of the whistle blowers’ law and report any cases of corruption revealing that the agency has recovered property estimated at over N10 billion from the region in the last two years.
