The body of late General Adeyinka Adebayo accompanied by Governor Rauf Aregbesola has arrived in Ekiti state where it was received by Governor Ayodele Fayose.

The body of the former governor of old western region arrived in Ekiti on Friday, May 19.

Legit.ng had earlier reported that as part of the rite, his body was taken to Lagos.

The former governor of old western region died two months ago at the age of 89, generating reactions from prominent Nigerians.

Adebayo was born in 1928 in the present-day Ekiti state and joined the West African Frontier Force in 1948 as a regiment signaler. He retired in 1975.

His eldest son Otunba Niyi Adebayo was the governor of Ekiti state from 1999 to 2003. Another son, Adesola Adebayo was the commissioner for works and transport, Ekiti state in the Dr Kayode Fayemi led administration from 2010 to 2014.

Meanwhile, a former governor of Ekiti state, Chief Segun Oni, said the death of retired Adebayo marked the end of an era in Nigeria’s history.

Oni said the demise of Adebayo signaled the end of a significant chapter in the history of the Nigerian Army in particular.
