Melaye shuns Bello, rates ex-PDP governor Wada higher

The chairman of the senate committee on Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senator Dino Melaye has said that he would rather vote for a former governor of Kogi state Idris Wada than incumbent Governor Yahaya Bello.

According to Melaye, a lawmaker representing Kogi west in the federal legislature, he is moved to say the truth as it is because of the recent assassination attempt on his life.

Melaye said this on Monday, May 15 at the launching of his new book ‘Antidotes for Corruption: The Nigerian Story'.

“If you put him (Wada) alongside Yahaya Bello today, I will vote for Wada. At least throughout his tenure, we did not agree but he never attempted to assassinate me.

“If you speak the truth, you will die and if you lie, you will die. I, Dino Melaye, has decided to speak the truth,” Melaye said.

The senator served as the Chairman of the Transition Committee of Governor Bello after the incumbent governor defeated Wada during the Kogi gubernatorial election last year.

NAIJ.com recalls that Senator Dino Melaye ran into troubled waters recently when reports emerged claiming that the senator representing Kogi West at the National Assembly did not graduate from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria as he had claimed.

Melaye, who is known for his controversial stand on national issues has been in a lasting political battle with his former friend and governor of Kogi state Yahaya Bello.

The lawmaker recently raised the alarm that there were plans to carry fictitious allegations against him.
