Naval officer allegedly kills 3 youth in Warri

- A yet to be identified naval officer on Friday, May 12, shot three youths dead in Warri South local government area of Delta state

- An eyewitness said the youths had misunderstanding with a contractor who was given a job to repair a jetty in the yard by the company

- The witness said the contractor was in the yard with some youths from Ekpan to prevent any form of confrontation against him

A yet to be identified naval officer on Friday, May 12, shot three youths dead in Warri South local government area of Delta state.

The naval personnel who was on guard at the premises of the Warri Petrochemical Company, WRPC in Ifiekporo.

An eyewitness said the youths had misunderstanding with a contractor who was given a job to repair a jetty in the yard by the company.

The witness said the contractor was in the yard with some youths from Ekpan to prevent any form of confrontation.

“In the process, an argument ensued, leading to the unidentified naval personnel shooting dead the three youths at about 3 pm," the witness said.

An eyewitness said the youths had misunderstanding with a contractor who was given a job to repair a jetty in the yard by the company.

“It took the intervention of men of the Nigerian Army who swooped into action to bring the situation under control as they whisked the naval personnel away for safety," the witness added.

However, a source withing the Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS Delta who pleaded anonymity said the naval officer may have acted in self defence.

NAIJ.com gathered that the Ifiekporo youths scaled the fence in an attempt to disarm the unidentified naval personnel during a protest

The source also said that two people not three were killed by the officer.

It was also gathered that one of the victims of the incident Agbolu is the liaison officer of Ifiekporo community to A&E Petrol.

Agbolu until his death had two children.

Also when contacted, the Delta state acting spokesperson Andrew Aniamaka said he was not aware of the incident.

Aniamaka was quoted to have said : “I am not aware of the matter. However, I will get back to you.”
