Armed robbers steal N1m from bank customer in Owerri

There was commotion in the Owerri north local government area of Imo state today, Wednesday, May 10, after a man was robbed of a whooping sum of N1m.

The Punch reports that the man who is a staff of Nwaozuzu petroleum filling station in Akabo, was about depositing the N1m at the Orji branch of First Bank in the area, before two heavily armed men attacked him.

The gunmen, operating a motorcycle, trailed and attacked him just opposite the bank immediately he alighted from a commercial bus.

Efforts to get the reaction of the police spokesperson in the state, Andrew Enwerem, was unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
