Gunmen kill deputy governor's ADC in Enugu

- The spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force in Enugu state, Ebere Amarizu, confirmed the killing of Sergeant Hellen

- Hellen's murder came hours after the area commander of Ughelli in Delta state died from gunshot injuries he suffered in a similar circumstance

Sergeant Hellen, the aide-de-camp (ADC) to the deputy governor of Enugu state, Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo, has been killed by gunmen, the police have confirmed.

Ezeilo was reportedly killed in the night of Tuesday, May 9 in Enugu, the state capital.

Vanguard reports that details of the attack remained sketchy at the time of this report, but that Hellen was reportedly shot dead at the Abakpa-Nike axis of Enugu metropolis at about 10:00 pm while returning to her residence from official duty.

The Enugu state Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amarizu, confirmed the incident and added: “It is a painful news.”

Amarizu said he had no details of the incident.

“If you look at what happened, it is painful and sad to hear that aide to deputy governor was shot dead on her way back after daily activities.

“We can’t really say exactly what happened now but we are trying to find out,” he reportedly said. had earlier reported that the Ughelli area commander of the Delta police command, Usman Ndanbabo, who was shot by gunmen on Sunday night May 7, 2017 had died at Lilly Hospital in Warri.

Reports say he was shot twice at close range while he was driving alone at about 8pm in his Nissan SUV on Sunday.

He tried fleeing but his assailants opened fire on him, shooting him on the back and was left to die.

He was rushed to a hospital in Ughelli but was referred a private hospital in Warri where he reportedly died in Tuesday afternoon at about 3pm in the hospital.
