- President Muhammadu Buhari returned to London on Sunday, May 7 for his medical checks but did not give a specific date for his return
- His spokesperson, Garba Shehu, said he would not be travelling to London but rely on third parties for information about the president's status
The Senior Special Assistant to Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, has revealed that he and his team would rely on third parties for information about the president’s health status.
NAIJ.com reports that the president recently travelled to London for a medical check as he had earlier revealed to Nigerians.
Shehu, who was a guest on a programme, Sunrise Daily, on Channels Television, said he would not be joining the president in London but would rely on those with him to feed Nigerians with information.
“No, I don’t think I will go.
“I hope the president has the privacy that he needs with his doctors and regains his health. We will continue to rely on third party from my own point of view,” he said as reported by The Punch.
Buhari had earlier spent weeks taking care of his health in London. He returned to Nigeria on March 10.
A letter detailing his latest trip was read on the floor of the Senate chamber on Tuesday by Bukola Saraki.
In the letter, President Muhammadu Buhari said he had no definite date for his return as his doctors would be the ones to determine his return date.
President Buhari said his trip to the UK is for a medical follow-up to his initial treatments and tests from his earlier trip to London.
