Unknown gunmen storm Nasarawa lawmaker's house, abduct mother and sister

- Unknown gunmen stormed the home of Kassim Mohammed-Kassim

- His mother and sister were kidnapped in the raid

- The kidnappers have demanded for a ransom of N30 million

Gunmen on Saturday night, April 6, abducted the mother and sister of lawmaker Kassim Mohammed-Kassim.

Mohammed-Kassim is a state House of Assembly member representing (APC) Akwanga South constituency.

According to the police Public Relation Officer, Kennedy Idrisu, the gunnmen stormed the house around 8 pm and shot sporadically before abducting the women.

NAIJ.com gathered that the women were abducted from the residence of Mohammed-Kassim at Moroa in Akwanga.

Idrisu said the police was collaborating with the vigilante group in the area to locate the victims, Punch reports.

He said: “As we speak, our men are already combing the areas in search of the victims and to apprehend the perpetrators."

A family source, who pleaded to be anonymous, however, said the abductors had contacted the family and demanded for a ransom of N30m.

Efforts to reach Mr Mohammed-Kassim for comment proved abortive as he could not be reach as at the time of filling this report.

Meanwhile, the Lagos state police command said a new kidnappers’ hideout has been discovered. The disclosure was made on Friday, May 5.

NAIJ.com gathered that the new kidnappers’ hideout was a place where arms as well as police and military life jackets were stored.

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Mr Fatai Owoseni, who confirmed the discovery to newsmen, said that it was made during raids of creeks at Isawo in Ikorodu area of Lagos.
