Former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt. General Ipoola Alani Akinrinade (Rtd) has described lawmaker Dino Melaye as a clown for allegedly ridiculing the Nigerian Senate with his ‘Ajekun Iya’ song.
Akinrinade, a well-respected Yoruba leader and former chief of defence staff during the Nigerian Second Republic, made his disappointment known in a chat with journalists at a recent public event.
In a video of the event posted by online media platform Sahara Reporters, Akinrinade said the lawmaker and his colleagues are busy doing unnecessary things while they left the most important ones untouched.
He said: "Nigeria cannot afford the number of people in the National Assembly. This is why they can be singing what was it...'Ajekun iya ni yio je'.
"Our own senator, a man representing us at this time of the century where the world is and these clowns are there and we are saying we should not talk about them?"
Recall that NAIJ.com obtained a video of Senator Dino Melaye, representing Kogi west senatorial district, singing to mock his enemies after the Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) testified to clear the allegations that he did not graduate from the university.
Earlier, reports had emerged that Melaye never graduated from ABU, Zaria as he had claimed.
Melaye, who is known for his controversial stand on national issues as well as a lasting political battle with his former friend and governor of Kogi state Yahaya Bello, recently alerted Nigerians that there were plans to carry fictitious allegations against him.
