A former Lagos state commissioner of police Abubakar Tsav has said that four major issues may work against President Muhammadu Buhari in his reelection bid in 2019.
Tsav in a interview with The Sun said President Buhari has been working hard to make Nigeria a better place since he assumed duty.
He however, said that the President's efforts, especially his fight against corruption has been grossly ineffective.
NAIJ.com has made a list of the reasons why President Buhari may loose in 2019 as given by Tsav below:
1. Lone ranger
The former police commissioner said President Buhari is fighting corruption in Nigeria alone.
Tsav there is serious suffering in Nigeria under the leadership of Buhari due to corruption and that the president is not getting the cooperation of the legislative in his war against corruption.
He said: “Buhari came with good intention and he is doing his best but what perhaps could portray him as a failure is the fact that he has not been receiving cooperation from the National Assembly. That is the problem."
2. The cabal and ill health
The former police commissioner also said the activities of the cabal within the President Muhammadu Buhari-administration has taken over governance.
Tsav said: “Also, people accuse him of having a kitchen cabinet that has taken over governance in Aso Rock. Also, the issue of his ill health is another thing."
"All these can affect him but the Buhari I know is a straight forward person. He is fighting corruption but nobody is yet convicted and people are suffering," Tsav added.
3. National Assembly:
Tsav said the National Assembly and its members are frustrating efforts made by the president to function effectively.
He said: “As far as I am concerned, I think he has not achieved much. But it is entirely not his problem because the National Assembly is also trying to frustrate him."
The former police commission there are many honest Nigerian scattered across Nigeria and must be given the opportunity to serve in their different capacities.
“There are many honest people everywhere in this country that can work with Buhari and bring about this change that we all desire. The level of stealing still going on is very alarming," Tsav said.
