Buhari's real troubles revealed amid health status controversy
- Lauretta Onochie urged Nigerians to be as troubled as President Muhammadu Buhari over the frustrations the latter has recorded so far
- The Attorney-General and minister of Justice, Alhaji Abubakar Malami, also said Buhari was worried over the delay in the passage of the Proceeds of Crime Act
Lauretta Onochie, a top aide to Muhammadu Buhari, has revealed that the president is really troubled especially in relation to the way his fight against corruption is being frustrated by the National Assembly.
Legit.ng reports that Onochie also urged Nigerians to be worried over the actions of the legislature and the judiciary in the race to rid the country of corruption.
According to Onochie, “Everyone, including the international community agrees that the war on corruption under President Muhammadu Buhari, is at its best in the history of Nigeria.
“Another thing that is very true is that this war can be better if the efforts of the executive arm of government are complemented by commensurate support from the legislature and the judiciary.”

She said further: “When ridiculous judgements are being issued in favour of known people who looted and live off proceeds of corruption, Nigerians should be worried.
“When bills which are aimed at strengthening the anti-corruption war Nigerians are waging, is kept in the cooler, for over a year, without a mention, by an APC-led National Assembly, Nigerians too, should be worried.”
Onochie wondered why the National Assembly is always summoning everyone who tries to speak against the ills coming from the legistlators.
She said: “Summoning anyone who dares to mention, ‘Magu’ is higher on their agenda than passing bills that would impact on the efforts of the Nigerian people to recover their nation from corruption.
“Anyone who believes that by frustrating the war on corruption ‘Ghana-must-go’ bags of dollars, would reappear or that their investigations for criminal acts would be discontinued as was the case in the immediate past, must have another think coming.
“It's not just President Buhari who is worried about the trend of things, Nigerians should be worried and are worried too. It's time to start asking questions.”

Earlier, the Attorney-General and minister of Justice, Alhaji Abubakar Malami, said President Buhari is worried over the delay in the passage of the Proceeds of Crime Act by the National Assembly (NASS).
Malami stated this when he briefed State House correspondents on the outcome of a closed door meeting with President Buhari in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday.
