Group threatens mass protest if Buhari fails to attend next FEC meeting
- A coalition of 40 civil society groups threaten to mobilise Nigerians to Aso Rock for protest to compel Buhari to officially transmit power to Osinbajo
- The national coordinator of the groups, Mazi Ikechukwu, cautions the APC regime against trying to re-enact the late President Umaru Yar ’Adua era when a cabal ruled the country while Yar’Adua was on life support machine
- The groups say instead of staying away from work, Buhari should officially transmit power to Osinbajo, so as to be free to travel abroad for more medical attention
A coalition of 40 Civil Society groups under the auspices of Change the Change Coalition (CCC) has threatened to stage mass protests if President Muhammadu Buhari failed to attend the next Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
The national coordinator of the CCC, Mazi Ikechukwu Bismarck Oji, on Thursday, April 27, said they would mobilise Nigerians to Aso Rock for protest to compel Buhari to officially transmit power to Osinbajo, if he, once again, excuses himself from the next FEC meeting.

The group cautioned the All Progressives Congress (APC) regime against trying to re-enact the late President Umaru Yar ’Adua era when a cabal ruled the country while Yar’Adua was on life support machine.
It asked how Nigerians could be certain that a group of cabals had not smuggled Buhari back to London to continue his treatment.
Instead of staying away from work, Buhari should officially transmit power to Osinbajo, so as to be free to travel abroad for more medical attention, it said.
The group said: “What we have before us is another Yar’Adua scenario – the President has been absent from at least two FEC meetings consecutively.
“Firstly, the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, told us the President was attending to more important matters and delegated the Vice President to chair the meeting.
“What could be more important than chairing the weekly FEC meeting, more so when his attendance would have allayed fears about his health status?
“Secondly, Lai Mohammed told us the President would be working from home.
“That is an insult on the intelligence of Nigerians and another episode in the theatre of the bizarre which this administration has turned governance into.
“The President is Nigeria’s Number one worker and should show examples. He should work and be seen to be working hard.

“In fact, if by next week, he is absent from the FEC meeting, the CCC shall mobilize patriotic and concerned Nigerians to Aso Rock to demand that Buhari transmits power to his Vice, Yemi Osinbajo, so as to take proper care of his health.
"Or how are we sure that the cabal has not smuggled him back to London, to continue his treatment as he stated on his return from his 50-day medical vacation?"
Meanwhile, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, says he “never said that President Muhammadu Buhari is to work from home henceforth”.
Legit.ng learnt that in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, the minister said the reporting in a section of the media of his post- Federal Executive Council (FEC) briefing that the President is to work from home henceforth is erroneous.
In the statement signed by his Special Adviser, Segun Adeyemi, the minister said “the President only decided to work from home today, not that he has decided to work from home henceforth”.
He said the headlines in a section of the media, “Buhari to now work from home – Lai Mohammed,” is a misrepresentation of his statement at the briefing.
